Back-to-School Drive Puts Supplies in the Hands of 400 East Hanover Students
The PNP East Hanover constituency office partnered with local businesses and community groups to distribute school supplies to over 400 students ahead of the new term.
More than 400 students across East Hanover received backpacks filled with notebooks, pens, rulers, and other essential supplies last week, thanks to a joint effort between the constituency office, local businesses, and the PNP community committee.
The initiative was coordinated by MP Andrea Purkiss's office and volunteers from communities including Lucea, Hopewell, Green Island, and Cascade. Distribution points were set up at four locations across the constituency to ensure as many families as possible could access supplies without having to travel long distances.
"Education is the foundation of everything we want to build here," said Purkiss. "When a child sits down at a desk on the first day of term with what they need, it changes how that day goes — and how the whole year goes."
The drive was supported by donations from fourteen local businesses and individuals who contributed funds, supplies, or logistics support. The constituency office is grateful to every contributor.
Parents and guardians who were unable to reach a distribution point can contact the office directly. The team will make arrangements to ensure no eligible child is left out.
