East Hanover Youth Council Launches Skills Training Programme
A new skills training programme for young people aged 17–30 is now open for registration across East Hanover, offering free certification courses in trades and digital skills.
Young people in East Hanover now have access to a free skills training programme offering certification in a range of in-demand trades and digital disciplines. The programme, coordinated through the constituency office in partnership with HEART/NSTA Trust, is accepting registrations from residents aged 17 to 30.
Available courses include electrical installation, plumbing, hospitality and tourism, cosmetology, and foundational computing and digital literacy. Courses run for three to six months, and all participants who complete their programme receive a nationally recognised HEART certificate.
"Young people are the backbone of what we are building here," said MP Andrea Purkiss. "This programme gives them something concrete — a skill they can take to an employer, or use to start their own business right here in Hanover."
Registration is open at the constituency office in Lucea, and at partner community centres in Hopewell and Green Island. Applicants will need a valid ID. No prior qualifications are required for most programmes.
The first cohort begins in June 2026. Spaces are limited — early registration is encouraged.
