PNP Government Approves Water Supply Expansion for Rural Hanover Communities

A new National Water Commission expansion project will bring improved piped water access to several rural communities in Hanover that have relied on trucking and catchment tanks for years.

Residents in several rural communities across Hanover will soon have improved access to piped water, following the approval of an NWC infrastructure expansion project that MP Andrea Purkiss has been lobbying for since taking office.

The project covers communities including parts of Jericho, Askenish, and sections of the Green Island corridor that have historically been underserved by the main distribution network. Work is expected to begin later this year following the completion of engineering assessments.

"Access to clean, reliable water is not a luxury — it is a right," said Purkiss. "Families in these communities have spent years collecting rainwater, relying on trucking, or simply going without. That is not acceptable, and we are going to fix it."

The NWC project will involve the laying of new mains, the installation of storage tanks, and the upgrading of pump stations serving the affected communities. MP Purkiss has secured a commitment from the Ministry of Water that affected communities will be consulted throughout the planning and construction process.

Residents with questions about the project or who wish to register a household for connection should contact the constituency office.
